A cruise aboard the Island Princess Alaskan Adventure

The first day of late summer, my journey took me to the sea in Valdez, Alaska. During a trip I could see the grass fire, bright red and in full bloom along the road. According to the locals, the winter will be short, at the end of the short summer Alaska enjoys. My morning had begun in the port of Valdez and I was preparing to meet Princess Cruise Line brand new ship, Island Princess.

When the coach stopped in the port of Princess Sea Inside I could see the princess of the island stand tall and elegant. I could not stop thinking about how incredible this ultra-modern cruise ships. She is powered by a gas turbine and has a capacity of 1970 passengers. This ship is 204 meters high and 964 meters in length. She is the new sister of Princess Cruise Lines' Coral Princess. The sister of 92,000 tons, not a follower, as she has many characteristics. I would be on board for a cruise south from Seward to Vancouver, BC

As I boarded the boat and started exploring, I was overwhelmed by the spacecraft and design. As has been described as a touch "design", the princess' s island has two full decks of public spaces than the traditional single Promenade Deck. I found four-story atrium of the ship to be alive with sophisticated colors and lighting. A visit that you would find the string quartet playing "Yesterday" by the Beatles, and next time would be with the piano music Crooners Lounge.

If space in the public spaces of the ship were not big enough, my cabin was in a class of its own too. I had a mini-suite with private balcony. This was a gift like no other. The mini-suites with private balcony, equipped with twin beds that convert into a double bed. The balcony was so big that I wanted to invite all home. He also has two televisions Incase wanted to see both the football and baseball, while cruising Glacier Bay. Do not forget the refrigerator, bathroom with tub and shower, all wrapped in 323 square feet including balcony. To say that this was wonderful would be a gross underestimate.

Our ship was scheduled to depart from the port of Seward, at 10 am, much later than it was before. However, I was getting used to long days of sunshine a summer in Alaska forever. While in Fairbanks days before the sun sets around 11:30 hours, placed at about 3:30. However, as we were farther south in Seward it would be dark for navigation, but one day more than was used for the west coast of Florida.

E 'was dinner on board and who chose the traditional foods of our one week cruise. One thing I learned was Princess Cruises views dining as a form of entertainment. Food preparation and presentation is taken very seriously. You will find only the elements of quality of food. Furthermore, men and women who oversees the ballet of buffets, brunches and casual dining, direct a Broadway show.

Princess Cruises has chosen traditional lunch, but it is what they call personal choice dining. Only Princess offers this innovative approach to dining room, allowing guests to dine how, when and with whom they want. Passengers can choose from an option-style restaurant that allows the same flexibility in terrestrial plants, or the traditional cruise dinner with an allotted time for lunch, diners and waiters – no other cruise line offers both options.

Personal choice dining also means that it is your choice to eat whenever you want. This means that you have the option of eating in a restaurant in 24 hours. This is not a "Denny's of the Sea", this is a great selection of cooked food "Minuet In" to provide only the fresh food on board their guests. You'll also find pizza served by the court served poolside at Princess Pizza pizzeria. Many cruise lines have added specialty restaurants onboard. Princess, according to his philosophy of food love, offers more options than any other cruise line. Island Princess offers two specialty restaurants like this. The first is coffee Bayou, "where passengers can enjoy traditional Cajun and Creole influenced food and live jazz music in the first New Orleans themed restaurant on the sea, with an appearance of the French Quarter. You will find a menu of dining options, such as the shell and the consumption of shrimp, alligator ribs, Gumbo and Jambalaya, not to mention the obligatory bevy of exotic cocktails. Hall ($ 8), equipped with Hurricane Cocktail. Below you will find the Sabatini, an Italian cuisine and seafood specialties and other traditional favorites served with an authentic touch in a restaurant, as the settings. Some believe that the cruisers specialty restaurants is not worth the extra cost, or do not pay anything "extra", while on a cruise. It 'been my experience that the price is worth it and most of the fee goes directly to staff in tips. So please do not miss these specialty restaurants, because they are really special.

The day of my sea for the first time, I was really impressed with all the activities on board with experience. The Lotus Spa offers a wide range of treatments and massages at a good price. The spa was very well decorated and had a personal relationship. My companion, who has sailed on many occasions said that the staff was first class and the treatment wonderful. While we continue to explore the boat, I discovered that the internet café, located off the atrium, was great. Who also had a table with coffee and cream to enjoy nearby. I liked this touch very much. The cafe has wonderful leather chairs and flat panel displays, which makes reading e-mail or surf the web fun. The only downside is the establishment of links down from time to time, because in Alaska.

A program I found onboard that was most surprising was Princess scholarship '@ Sea enrichment programs. The program began in early 2003 and the princess of the island is only the second ship to offer the program. She follows her sister ship Coral Princess in offering courses in the state of the art multi-purpose Universe Lounge. During my trip I went to a cooking demonstration given by Chef Corporate Executive cruise line, Alfredo Marzi. It 'was like watching "Emeril Live" and other shows great kitchen. This included smell-A-Vision since you're there in the audience for the smell of garlic, wine and spices. I really enjoyed myself and have never seen a demonstration of cooking as before. It is both educational and entertaining, with a state of submission of the latest technology. Each had a perfect view, due to the large screen TV, and the position of 'world wide living room. During the week I had the pleasure of attending a lecture given by Princess Cruise Lines Fleet Commodore Moulin (ret). I had the opportunity to learn about his life at sea, how it started and until his retirement. E 'was fascinating and I immediately am convinced that in fact prefer this type of program for a cruise. Not been a great player, so I did not attend Bingo and even fine art auction on board. So these offers is wonderful. I was even more surprised when I learned much more was available. You can choose from approximately 20 courses per voyage (six days at sea) of the four subject areas – Culinary Arts, Visual / Creative Arts, Photography, Computers and Technology. Italian cooking, hand-built pottery, digital travel photography, web design, estate planning and water color techniques are just some of the courses offered. All courses are free and passengers can enjoy what they want. If you want to continue their education on board, which can take smaller classes onboard for a fee of $ 10.

As you may have guessed all this entertainment, enrichment of food on board and you can not decide to get off the boat. Being on board the Island Princess was like staying in a luxury resort. I know that many other cruise lines are struggling for this, but Princess Cruises now offers the princess of the island. His days are filled with food, entertainment, ports of call and personal choices.

While the ship stopped in Vancouver Island Princess and the Lion's Gate Bridge, I looked back and I knew that I had experienced something special. Since I had never been to Alaska, this trip was a journey like no other. I found Alaska to be a true "Wilderness Wonderland" and have a boat like the princess of the island as a platform for discovery is a must do for this cruise addict.
